When’s the last time you did something just for you?
We frequently find ourselves rushing around ticking off tasks on our endless to do list and putting ourselves last. If you look at social media you see comical posts asking how you juggle work, social life, eating healthy, gym etc and then it ends with a clip of someone having a breakdown. Funny, yes, but there is an element of truth in it.
Sometimes, I find myself trying to balance all of these life tasks and overlook the things I actually want to do. You get stuck in a weekly routing of muddling through your tasks which are satisfying to tick off but are they bringing you any joy or peace? It’s easy to forget it is okay to be selfish from time to time and put yourself and your needs above work, housework, social life etc. However, being selfish is easier said than done especially if you are a people pleaser like me.
How does a people pleaser put themselves first? Well, I have set myself a challenge, to do something just for me once a day. It does not have to be extravagant or take hours, it can simply be going for a walk, popping to the local coffee shop or putting on a fifteen minute facemask. The point is it is something just for me.
My challenge to you is to do the same. Try and take a little guilt free time every day to do something just for you.
