Why Not Monday’s…

A while back, I listened to a podcast that said some psychologists believe we should start a new routine on a Wednesday. If we start on a Monday we are most likely to fail, this includes a new training regime, diet, new goal and more. Since then, I have used this as an excuse not to start something new at the beginning of the week, why bother when I’m doomed to fail? Then it rolls on, I can’t start the new habit on a weekend because, well, it’s the weekend, I can’t start it on a Monday, if we’re now at Tuesday might as well wait until Wednesday and so on.

Then the other day I had a realisation, a day is just a day. Before humans created names for days they had no structure, there was daylight and then it was night. Whether you start something on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, weekend or when your horoscope says to, it is just a day. The point is you just need to start. Stop delaying the future you want because you have an excuse not to do it in the present.

There will always be an excuse, make your purpose bigger than your excuse and just start…even if it is a Monday.
